Lead Engineer
Tribevest is seeking a Lead Engineer to own and scale our core fintech platform, ensuring reliable, secure, and compliant delivery of production software. This role is responsible for the architecture, data model, and infrastructure that power SPVs, investor onboarding, and money movement, while enabling a distributed engineering team to ship predictably. Success is measured by platform stability, security posture, and sustained delivery velocity.
Role Definition
This role is accountable for building, operating, and scaling Tribevest’s core fintech platform. Success is measured by system reliability, delivery throughput, security posture, and the team’s ability to ship compliant production software on schedule.
Performance Outcomes
The Lead Engineer is successful when they:
- Deliver predictable production releases without regressions or security gaps
- Maintain a stable, auditable relational data model supporting complex investment workflows
- Keep CI/CD pipelines reliable, observable, and secure across all environments
- Enable a small, distributed engineering team to execute efficiently across time zones
- Reduce operational risk while increasing delivery velocity
Scope of Ownership
- Core relational data model supporting offerings, SPVs, onboarding, investments, distributions, and roles
- Web applications supporting lead sponsors, fund managers, and individual investors
- Banking-as-a-service and financial integrations (Stripe, Plaid)
- Messaging and CRM integrations (Postmark, HubSpot)
- AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and platform security
Key Responsibilities (Measured)
- Design, maintain, and evolve the core relational database supporting all investment flows
- Architect and deliver web application features using Angular and React
- Own deployment pipelines, environment promotion, and rollback strategies
- Enforce authentication, authorization, data integrity, privacy, and compliance controls
- Lead and contribute hands-on code across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
- Manage and unblock engineers distributed across time zones up to 12 hours apart
- Delegate, track, and close work using Jira
- Partner with the Product Owner to estimate work, sequence delivery, and commit to release dates
- Monitor platform health using CloudWatch and address reliability issues proactively
30 / 60 / 90 Day Performance Targets
First 30 Days
- Demonstrate full understanding of Tribevest products and the shared relational data model
- Deliver two medium-sized incremental code changes to production
- Assess and report on the state of CI/CD, authentication, authorization, and platform security
- Review existing penetration test documentation and identify gaps
First 60 Days
- Deliver 2–4 minor production releases without deployment incidents
- Define and document the architecture supporting lead sponsors, fund managers, and investors
- Produce a resource-loaded delivery plan aligned to the Product Owner’s roadmap
- Execute penetration testing across all environments and remediate findings
First 90 Days
- Deliver one major production release
- Produce strategic plans covering development standards, DevOps, and platform security
- Create a 12-month, resource-loaded engineering roadmap
- Improve release reliability, deployment speed, or security posture through concrete changes
Required Background
- Senior or Lead Engineer experience with direct production ownership
- Proven ability to act as both technical leader and hands-on contributor
- Experience running distributed engineering teams
- Strong command of Jira-based execution and release tracking
Required Technical Experience
- Fintech or regulated financial systems
- React and/or Angular web applications
- AWS-based architectures (Cognito, Postgres, CloudWatch)
- Backend development supporting banking or financial workflows
- Experience with Stripe, Plaid, or similar financial integrations
